Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" is probably Lucinda Williams most consistent body of work to date.

The question that runs through my head regards the guys, do you get this music? Every woman on the planet understands it. If you want to understand women, then listen to this album, let your guard down, feel this, try and understand where the women in your life are coming from, what we want, where we’re going, and what we do on the way there.

The music is very varied on this album, you’ll get a fine helping of everything from R&B, Rock, Country and the Blues. Every songs slides its way into you, taking you to imaginary places on twangy silver strings. Her voice is out front and strong. She’s worked hard on the album and the results are astounding. Just listen to ‘Joy’, try and tell me where here voice leaves off and the guitars enter.

‘Right In Time,’ ooooh baby, it doesn’t get any better then this. Here she sings about her days without her partner, longing for the way he moves, the way they move together. Even when she lays herself out on the bed to caress herself, moaning at the ceiling, she can’t think of anything other then her man, and where he is, counting the minutes, moving right in time with the love she feels. This type of song, this haunting ... its going to become a signature of Lucinda, you'll see, they'll all be bone chillers.

I think I’ve said enough about his fine piece of music. It’s hard to comment on perfection.
