Sable, FableLimited Black & Salmon Coloured Vinyl edition

With the album ‘SABLE, fABLE’, Justin Vernon begins a new Bon Iver chapter: the epilogue.

‘SABLE, fABLE’ will be released on 11 April 2025 and is the project's first full-length album in six years. The album starts with the three emotional songs from the ‘SABLE’ EP, released in autumn 2024. This is followed by a new nine-song saga where one person becomes two - darkness becomes beauty and sadness turns into unbridled joy. Where "SABLE" dealt with loneliness and the pain of the past, "fABLE" looks towards a vibrant future filled with light, purpose and possibility: a partner, new memories and maybe a family.

Produced by Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack, ‘SABLE, fABLE’ was recorded primarily at Vernon's April Base studio in Wisconson after several years of studio downtime due to renovations. The conceptual genesis of the album happened on 22 February 2012 when Stack arrived at April Base with Danielle Haim. They snowed in for several days while Vernon and Haim's voices met on ‘If Only I Could Wait’, a duet with a crucial perspective on not having the strength to be the best version of yourself outside the bubble of newfound love.

Like fables, every song on the album has a point, and ‘fABLE’ is about the selfless rhythm required when you become entangled with another person or lover - a patient promise to find a common rhythm to get better in a relationship.

Gone are the dense layers of sound that lurked around Justin Vernon's voice on ‘i,i’ and ‘22, A Million’. The last four albums that have been a seasonal cycle are now complete; ‘SABLE, fABLE’ is a canvas where the truth is laid bare.
